Travels 225: Innocence we value

On one of my Bohol jaunt-slash-work assignment, I took the habit of taking a stroll on the famous Panglao Beach in Bohol and one sunny Sunday morning, I came across a family whose only boy enjoyed the white sands, the sea and the sun. I asked politely if I can take a photo, they agreed so I have the rarest opportunity to take on my most daring first time family-outing photoshoot. What I have captured was a happy family whose innocence is a hallmark of proverbial life in the countryside, sheer happiness at whatever it is being freely given. In this case, the sea and the sun. I could never have made a careful thought of it until a good friend who is also a famous travel blogger who became a business partner, Daniel Karlo de Leon pointed out one night as I showed him this photo stacked in my Ipad. I captured innocence at sea, of a child whose dreams are forever glared in his eyes and his fervent prayers, gleaned through his young face.

The opportunity I took while taking this photo has immensely taught me that innocence is one virtue we usually discard when we grow up to where we are. In our attempts to earn a good education, acting the educated persons that we are, we shun innocence. Perhaps too, because of our efforts to safeguard our own personal interests and that of our loved ones that we started to question the motives of others, shunning in the process our own humble beginnings and innocence. Too commonly also, because of our stature in society that we forget to value innocence because we could have wished otherwise and if the winds blew on the other direction, we complain, we witchhunt and we lambast people, society until it crumbles.

Innocence is the greatest virtue only reserved for the young and children in us. Perhaps, as one life is lived fully well and freely when one is a child that when he grew up in society, his freedom is also seemingly shortened or worse, impeded. For some efforts to conform, we choose to let go of our own self-freedom over what we think is great even if it means discarding our own innocent gaze of the world. We fail at society because we truly is not innocent, worse, we despised. We easily discard innocence in the name of trust but sadly, we trust not heartily. We trust based on what we see and hear, or perhaps feel but we never even trust those that we do not feel but have made us indirectly a beneficiary. So true with our national identity that we started to question integrity of institutions while forgetful of how our questioning is reverberating back towards us. Like an echo, our questioning and bullying perspective of what society should be in swift accordance to our own design is coming back to us. Ergo, it is wise to choose innocence and value it a lifetime than piously appear as if one is Zeus who rules the world but never the heart of men.

Travels 202: Go organic even on Ice Cream? Yes BEE Farm

There are so few resorts in the country today that offers wide array of gastronomic delights that are harmless to both body and soul and Bee Farm is one of the prime mover in this segmented niche in the tourism market. The Bohol Bee Farm is located in Dauis, in Panglao, Bohol. One of the highlights of the resort is their all homegrown organically produce veggies that goes to their menu and entree.

I have had been to this resort many years ago and befriend its owner, Vicky Wallace who remains ebullient about tourism in the province and the critical role Bee Farm plays in its milieu. I went back yet this time to take snapshots for my blog and I am never disappointed. They have new dining halls and a great vista compared to the days I was years ago. They invested in dynamic resort expansion and development; to include the introduction of the Philippine’s first organic ice cream.

The Bohol Bee Farm is a resort and wellness enterprise rolled into one. It promotes eco-tourism and increases awareness towards healthier options for a lifestyle. Those who are adventurous can try their flower salad, all edible that produces the same gastronomic delights.

Bohol Bee Farm greatly contributed to the continue proliferation of wellness and vitality in advancing the tourism industry. As I have noticed, that every day at Bee Farm is a happy day where the Christmas feel is on the air. The decor at the office they share with the shop is Christmasy and has a classic feel to it.

If one goes for organic even to ice cream then Bohol Bee Farm is a must. I have tried their buko and ube flavoured ice cream. Tasty!

Travels 197: Bluewater Panglao, Luxury at its best

If indeed heaven is made on earth, Bluewater Panglao is one place I would choose to live. The newest addition of luxury resorts in the province of Bohol is one named Bluewater. Recently opened on July 2011, the resort is one that spells the difference of luxury. The clear sky cooperated when I took Travey for a spin at the Bluewater Panglao and I love every inch of it. You can even sniff luxury into it.

At high noon, I and Travey took on the spin for a great photoshoot of the resort, starting with its great infinity pool as well as its tropical huts that dotted its shoreline which promises pristine experience of a resort hotel. I even bumped into a well-read and my favourite opinion writer for the Philippine Star while I went to Bluewater Panglao.

What I truly loved about Bluewater Panglao is its exclusivity as well as their kind staff. They were well-trained at securing their guests while also keeping their distance to province sufficient space for privacy and of course, comfort. Definitely, Bluewater Panglao defined luxury at the highest par.

It is designed architecturally to provide a space that honor Bohol’s natural beauty while also providing an experience of resort living at its best. Bluewater Panglao has indeed made the best leap forward towards a new brand of luxurious comfort for guests who wanted more than the sun and the vista it brings.

Bluewater Panglao can be reach by their website and those who have been lucky to be inside the resort, we shared the same experience, one that redefines our concept of luxury and natural beauty.
