Journey 157: Do you know her enough to share in her loss?

My friends, let us meet Christina-Taylor Green, the 9-year old Arizona massacre victim whose life has been abruptly ended by the lone gunman Jared Lee Loughner who assassinated US Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, D-Arizona. Her story maybe just an ordinary story to you, children getting killed elsewhere and telling me, there are even children getting killed in Africa liked she was and you do not feature them in your blog. I say, everywhere, women and children whose vulnerability on attacks on their persons are acts against humanity and cannot be condone no matter how one justifies it.

What made Christina captured my attention was the fact that she was one of the 50 babies born on 9/11.

9/11 was so freshed on my mind still. I was then a graduate student taking my Masters in Foreign Service at the Lyceum of the Philippines University in Manila and upon coming back home to Las Pinas City, turned on the TV, and checked on CNN like I usually do, I saw the twin towers crumbling down because of terrorist acts. Christina was the beacon of hope when she was born on this unfortunate day of all humanity. And now, she was gone.

Jared Lee Loughner is a 22 year old who mistrusted the government and believed that 9/11 was caused by the US government planned the assassination of Congresswoman Giffords and bought his 9mm Glock semi-automatic pistol in November 2010.

The twist of the three personalities here was that Congresswoman Giffords is an avid supporter of loose restrictions on gun ownerships in Arizona and elsewhere in the US, Loughner have bought his pistol using such opportunity and hated America for 9/11 tragedy which in turn, killed Christina-Taylor, the baby who was born on 9/11.

Sometimes, even in life, fate plays a critical role. Call that surreal but it is true.

My condolences go out to the family of Christina Taylor Green, may her light shines upon us wherever we are. We have loss a hero in her but her legacy will forever be with us in our search for deeper meaning of life.
