Mimbalot Falls in Buru-un, Iligan City is one that showcases both its beauty and usefulness. Journeys and Travels have never been to this minor falls in the City of Waterfalls and it was his first time to travel to this very useful water source.
On my way to Mimbalot Falls, I was lost as the habal-Habal driver, Manong “Pak Jun” thought I am going to the zipline but I insisted that I am going to just take photos of the waterfalls and that’s it. He then took me to this unassuming yet beautiful waterwalls. As to the name, I have yet to ask and confirm why it is called Mimbalot.
The Mimbalot Falls was just recently developed by the City Government of Iligan and thus the zipline is an added attraction. On my journeys, I skip the ziplines because I am never a daredevil that others are.
The usefulness of the Mimbalot Falls is that apart from it being a source of bathing and enjoyment, it is also the source of running water for washing dirty laundries. Men and women even children are seen frolicking on Mimbalot Falls’ waterways not to bath but to wash their laundries.
Journeys and Travels has been waterfalls hopping across Lanao del Norte and this minor waterfalls has been an added list of must-be visited sites. Just be forewarned that the Mimbalot Falls where the waters hit the stones is not as good as a swimming area unlike Tinago Falls but it is beautiful nonetheless.
